Fujian's second-largest island, at the province's far south on the Taiwan Strait, covering 194 km² with 141 km of coastline and 67 islets around it. Its shape recalls a butterfly, earning it the name «Butterfly Island», and bridges link it to the mainland. Its best-known sights are the «Wind-Moving Stone» perched on a cliff by the east gate of the old town of Tongshan, Sufeng Mountain, its highest point at 274 m, the sandy beaches of Maluan and Jinluan Bays, little Nanyu islet with its white lighthouse and a harbour full of fishing boats; the island is known for abalone and fresh seafood. Wandering the island is free, while the Wind-Moving Stone area costs CNY 60, from 7 am to 7 pm, per visitor guides; the island lies about 120 km from Zhangzhou, and halal food isn't guaranteed there.
