Dudutki is an open-air museum of folk crafts and old country life, south of Minsk, the capital of Belarus. It shows traditional crafts in working workshops, where visitors watch potters, blacksmiths, bakers and cheesemakers at work. The museum is a village of wooden buildings in the traditional Belarusian style. Its sights include a wooden windmill, a tall wooden water tower, stables, workshops for pottery, smithing and carpentry, and a small wooden church seen from outside. Many people from Minsk come here on day trips. You see brown wooden buildings with sloping roofs among tall trees, a grey windmill with wooden sails above a green meadow, and carved wooden figures. The wooden church shows its small onion domes, and in the workshops clay pots sit on shelves beside piles of firewood. It is about 35 km from Minsk in a straight line. The UK Foreign Office advises against all travel to Belarus, so read the current advice before any planning.
