A modern mosque in Education City, part of the Minaretein building of the College of Islamic Studies at Hamad Bin Khalifa University, designed by Mangera Yvars Architects and completed in 2013. The building rests on five great columns standing for the five pillars of Islam, each carrying a verse of the Qur'an, and from it rise two tall white slanting minarets decorated with Arabic calligraphy. A lattice of white geometric patterns covers its curving façade. Inside is a wide prayer hall whose ceiling is pierced with tiny openings like stars, a mihrab glowing with gold calligraphy, and a pool in the courtyard. Visitors are welcome outside prayer times in modest dress, with women covering their hair. It pairs easily with the nearby Qatar National Library on one visit to Education City.
