Europe's oldest great theme park (1952) and, by the trade's consensus, its most soulful: Efteling is no funfair but a forest of tales — begun as a Fairytale Forest whose houses and creatures the illustrator Anton Pieck drew, grown into a world park that kept the spell: real veteran trees shading everything, beauty before thrill.
