Ekom-Nkam Falls are twin waterfalls on the Nkam River near the town of Melong, in the Moungo division of western Cameroon. They are about 80 metres high and drop into a deep valley ringed by dense rainforest. They are among the country's finest and best-known falls, drawing visitors from Douala and the western towns. The falls lie in the village of Ekom-Nkam, among the Bareko people. The 1984 film «Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan» was shot here, so the place is sometimes called Tarzan's forest. Their look changes a great deal with the seasons, with the flow fuller and stronger in the rains and lighter in the dry months. You see a high rock wall among the trees, with two side-by-side falls of brown-white water and spray rising around them like mist. Below lies a wide pool, from which the water runs down the valley. Visitors look out from a viewing platform at the top of the valley, and steps lead down to the bottom. They are about 11 km from Melong in a straight line, and the last part of the road is dirt. The steps are slippery with spray, so wear suitable shoes and keep back from the water's edge.
