Los Reyunos is a reservoir in the canyon of the Diamante river, 35 kilometres from San Rafael in southern Mendoza, its blue-green water held between steep, ochre cliffs. The dam, built between 1973 and 1983, rises 134 metres and feeds a pumped-storage hydroelectric plant. The lake covers some 750 hectares and is one of San Rafael's favourite summer escapes, with a nautical and fishing club, water-skiing, windsurfing, kayaking, diving and boat trips between the canyon walls. Viewpoints along the access road look down over the dam and the lake. Visiting the shore and viewpoints is free; boat trips and water sports are charged by local operators. It pairs with the Atuel canyon on a day out from San Rafael.
