Emerald Lake is a freshwater lake in Yoho National Park, British Columbia, Canada. Yoho is one of four neighbouring national parks in the Canadian Rockies, along the border of British Columbia and Alberta, and the lake, with its green colour, is one of its best-known sights. A paved road about nine kilometres long links it to the Trans-Canada Highway, a 5.2 km trail circles the lake, and harder trails climb into the mountains. The nearest town outside the park is Golden, about 50 km west, and the small village of Field inside the park has a visitor centre. You see clear green-turquoise water reflecting grey peaks capped with snow, ringed by thick pine forest. A wooden lodge and a row of red canoes line the shore with a small wooden bridge, and in winter the lake freezes under snow. It is about 6 km from the village of Field in a straight line. Summer, when the ice has melted, is the best time for the green colour; winter is very cold.
