The Campos do Jordão Railway is an electrified line linking Pindamonhangaba with Campos do Jordão in São Paulo state, owned by the state government and used today only for passengers, mainly on tourist rides. The line was conceived by the public-health doctors Emílio Ribas and Victor Godinho to give their patients quicker, easier access to Campos do Jordão, a high village in the Serra da Mantiqueira whose mountain climate suited tuberculosis treatment. Building began in 1912 and it opened on 15 November 1914; the state took it over in 1916, electrification by English Electric was completed in 1924, and it ran its first tourist trip in 1936. The mountain section has not run since 2017 for safety reasons, and its cables were stolen in 2021, so the long rides were still suspended in 2024 and activity was limited to the «bondinho» tourist trams within Campos do Jordão. Check which rides are running at the station before going.
