A large botanical garden at the foot of Wutong Mountain beside the Shenzhen Reservoir. Founded in 1983 and opened to visitors in 1988, it covers more than 500 hectares and holds over eight thousand plant species in seventeen specialised gardens. Its best-known feature is the National Cycad Conservation Centre, set up in 2012, with about 240 species of these ancient plants, one of the largest collections in the world. There is also a fossil forest, gardens of magnolias, palms, bamboo, desert plants and peach blossom, and a lake crossed by arched stone bridges. Tickets cost CNY 15 between 8 am and 6 pm, with free entry from 6 to 8 am and from 6 to 9.30 pm, and entry slots are booked in advance, per visitor guides.
