Fairy Stream, Suoi Tien in Vietnamese, is a small, shallow stream running to the sea between red and white dunes; people in Phan Thiet once called it the Bamboo Stream. Visitors walk barefoot upstream, in water that stays ankle-deep for most of the way, over soft orange sand. Along one bank rise cliffs of red and white sand that rain and wind have carved into towers and spires as hard as rock; from above they look like forgotten castles, which is why visitors call the area Fairyland. At the end of the path is a small waterfall among the trees. The walk is about a kilometre and a half each way, an hour to an hour and a half there and back. Take your shoes off and carry them, and go in the morning before the cliffs heat up.

Yes. The water is ankle-deep for most of the way and the walk is easy, but avoid the hot midday hours.
