Fazenda do Pinhal, or Fazenda Conde do Pinhal, is a historic estate in the countryside of São Carlos in inland São Paulo state. Built from 1831, it is directly tied to the city's founding, as the town of São Carlos do Pinhal grew on land donated from the Pinhal land grant, and it bears witness to the region's coffee boom. From 1850 coffee overtook sugarcane and cattle on the estate, deepening its reliance on enslaved labour, which Italian immigrants replaced after abolition. Its owner, Antônio Carlos de Arruda Botelho, the Count of Pinhal, opened many other farms but kept Pinhal as his family home until his death in 1901. The national and state heritage services listed it in the 1980s, and in 2009 the banker Fernão Bracher bought it and closed its farm hotel to give priority to the museum and historic core. It usually receives visitors Wednesday to Saturday, with morning, afternoon or full-day tours, and booking ahead is required.
