Fazenda Nossa Senhora da Conceição is a historic farm in rural Jundiaí, founded in 1810, just two years after the Portuguese royal family arrived in Brazil. It began by growing sugar cane, then switched to coffee when São Paulo state became the country's leading producer in the following decades. The farm was among the estates behind the São Paulo Railway, the state's first railway, opened in 1867 to link Jundiaí with the port of Santos so that farm produce could reach world markets. Today the farm blends farming with historical tourism over thirty thousand square metres of lakes, trails, a restaurant, a craft shop, tractor and horse-cart rides and a playground. Schools and universities visit often for its history, guided by staff who specialise in it. Check visiting days, prices and booking.
