This one for cars and racing — bigger, richer, with factory, track and drive experiences beside it; Modena for Enzo the man's story in his birth-house with a cinematic display. Families and boys start here; a full day joins both by the connecting shuttle.
It takes commitment: Florence–Modena by train about an hour, then shuttle or bus to Maranello — a day a true Ferrarista justifies, heavy for passing curiosity. With a rental car it flips into the easiest, best-driving day trip there is.
Independent firms at the museum's door rent Ferraris with an instructor from about 10 minutes up, prices starting near €100 — book ahead in season, and take the wheel yourself rather than the passenger seat: the difference is the point.

In the small town of Maranello — where every Ferrari in history is born — the Prancing Horse museum stands steps from the factory gates themselves: red halls lining up the legends car by car, from the first to wear the badge in 1947 to the Formula 1 beasts that crowned Schumacher, and a trophy hall glittering with decades of victory. The experience goes past looking: near-real F1 simulators with bookable sessions, open-top shuttle tours circling the private Fiorano test track and the factory streets the engineers cross, and for the ultimate, local firms outside the museum rent real Ferrari drives by the minute on Emilia's roads. From Florence it makes a complete motor day: an hour and three quarters' drive, extended by marque devotees to the Enzo Ferrari Museum in nearby Modena — or Lamborghini and Pagani close by.
