A small, colourful coffee-region town much like Salento in its brightly painted wooden houses and flowered balconies, but calmer and less crowded, loved by those seeking the region's authentic village feel. Filandia is known for handmade basket weaving from bamboo and plant fibres, a craft passed down through families, and basket shops line its streets. Around its main square, cafés serve coffee from nearby farms. Its best-known sight is the «Mirador», a tall wooden tower on a hill at the edge of town, climbed for a wide panorama of green hills covered in coffee and banana farms, and on clear days the distant snowy peaks. It is usually combined with Salento in a single day, and evenings are lovely when the colourful houses light up. It is mild, with frequent afternoon rain.

Salento is more famous and the gateway to Cocora but crowded; Filandia is calmer and more authentic. Many visit both in a day or two.
