Flecheiras is a quiet fishing village in the municipality of Trairi on Ceará's west coast, about 140 kilometres from Fortaleza, roughly two hours and twenty minutes by car. Dunes and coconut groves surround it, and its beach curves round a small half-moon bay. Its best-known feature is the natural pools that form between the reefs at low tide, right in front of the beach, where visitors swim in clear, calm water. They are at their best around the full and new moon, when the tides are lowest, so check a tide table before going. The village has good guesthouses and restaurants, and its steady winds draw kitesurfers and windsurfers. Guajiru lies seven kilometres away and Mundaú about nineteen, so they combine easily into one trip along this coast.
