A free musical fountain show on a 3.4-hectare man-made lake in front of the Bellagio resort on the famous Las Vegas Strip, one of the city's signature sights, which has appeared in many films. The show uses 1,214 water nozzles and 4,792 lights, shooting water as high as 140 metres in movements choreographed to a range of music. It was designed by a specialist fountain firm and opened with the resort on 15 October 1998 at a cost of $40 million. Shows run from the afternoon until midnight, every half hour in the day and every 15 minutes after 8 pm, and people line the lakeside rail to watch the water sway and sparkle under the lights. Viewing is free from the sidewalk and the lakeside rail, with show times per visitor guides. The shows after dark are the most beautiful, and from the pedestrian bridges opposite you see the whole lake with the scaled-down Eiffel Tower across the road.
