A small island near Waisai with a simple village, a colourful wooden jetty and a white-sand beach, the closest place for good snorkelling for those staying in Waisai or short on time. The nearby Friwen coral wall is well known among divers. Under and around the jetty are colourful coral and plenty of tropical fish, and on the nearby wall soft corals, sponges and larger fish. The water is usually calm and clear, and you can relax on the beach under the palms after snorkelling. Every foreign visitor pays a Raja Ampat environmental fee of around one million rupiah, valid for a year (check the current rate), bought in Waisai or Sorong; the speedboat is chartered or booked as a tour. The short distance makes the boat cheaper than far trips. It is an excellent half-day option on the first or last day of a trip, or for anyone who dislikes long boat rides. Bring snorkel gear or rent it in Waisai.
