A horseshoe-shaped bridge with a transparent glass floor jutting out from the edge of a side canyon at Eagle Point in Grand Canyon West. It lies outside the national park on Hualapai land and opened to visitors in 2007. Visitors stand on the glass above a sheer drop of 150 to 240 metres; the Skywalk is 1,450 metres above sea level while the Colorado River runs below at 350 metres, so the whole canyon seems to lie beneath your feet. The site is about 121 kilometres from Las Vegas as the crow flies but about 210 kilometres by road, which is why many visit on a day trip from Las Vegas; the area also has other viewpoints and Hualapai cultural performances. The all-access package including the Skywalk is about $99 before tax, per visitor guides, and phones and cameras are not allowed on the bridge itself. Remember that this site is separate from, and far from, the national park's South Rim.
Over the drop.
And its rock.
On site.
