A North Shore mountain overlooking all of Vancouver, rising more than 1,200 metres, reached by the Skyride, Canada's largest aerial tramway, a ride of a few minutes over the forest with views of the city and the ocean. At the top are a refuge for orphaned grizzly bears rescued as cubs in the wild, birds of prey shows, the famous lumberjack show with tree-climbing and log-sawing contests, forest walking trails, and restaurants overlooking the city. For the fit there is the Grouse Grind, a steep trail climbing about 850 metres in under three kilometres that locals call Mother Nature's Stairmaster, a popular challenge. In winter the mountain becomes a ski area close to the city. The Skyride price changes with the season, with prices on the official site. The summit is colder than the city and can be in cloud, so pick a clear day.
