The Gruta da Pratinha in Iraquara, in the west of the Chapada Diamantina, is the source of the Pratinha river: its water flows out of the cave into a clear lake where you can swim and snorkel. It lies on a private farm, the Fazenda Pratinha, which also holds the Gruta Azul, where sunlight turns the water blue between 14:30 and 15:30 from April to September. The farm opens 8:00-16:00, and prices vary by activity, from entry to floating in the cave to a zipline over the lake, so check before you go.
