The Castle Cave is a cavern in the Morro do Castelo, in the Vale do Pati within Chapada Diamantina National Park, in Mucugê. It is one of six known caves in the park and, with the Lapão near Lençóis, one of only two open to tourists. The cave is formed of sandstone interbedded with conglomerate and has four known entrances near the summit: the «King», the «Great Swift», the «Arch Hall» and the «Castle Garden», the largest, which faces east over the Vale do Pati with «one of the finest views in the park». Visitors usually go in by the King's entrance and come out at the Castle Garden, passing a hall of about twenty by twenty-five metres. The cave is visited on hikes through the Vale do Pati, which usually take several days with a local guide. Its floor slopes and has loose stones, so bring a torch and tread carefully.
