The main museum of Guizhou province, whose new building opened on 30 September 2017 in Guanshanhu district north-west of central Guiyang, with some 46,000 square metres of floor space and more than 200,000 objects and specimens. Its permanent exhibition, «Colourful Guizhou», tells three stories: the province's many peoples with their costumes and crafts, its history since the earliest times, and the ancient fossils for which its land is known. Entry is free with advance booking, Tuesday to Sunday from 9 am to 5 pm, closed on Mondays except public holidays, per visitor guides.
