A modern architectural showpiece on the edge of the wetlands north of the Songhua River, designed by MAD under Chinese architect Ma Yansong and clad in white aluminium in soft curves that recall wind-carved drifts of snow. It holds a 1,538-seat main hall and a 414-seat small hall whose back wall is glass, opening onto the landscape, and visitors can climb paths carved into the façade to a platform at the top with views of the city and the river. Inside are white walls, skylights and warm timber; the building stands in a city named a UNESCO «City of Music», which hosts the well-known Harbin Summer Music Concert every summer. A visit to the building costs about CNY 20, or about 40 with the seventh-floor deck, with visiting hours from 9:00 to 16:00 and no visits on Mondays, per visitor guides. Performance tickets are sold separately.
