A modern Coptic Orthodox cathedral in Sharm el-Sheikh's Hay el-Nour district, known as the Heavenly Cathedral or the Church of the Heavenlies, which has become one of the city's notable landmarks thanks to its rich interior decoration. From outside the building shows pale cream walls, white domes and two bell towers in Coptic style, while inside, colourful murals cover walls and ceilings, depicting stories from the Old and New Testaments and the lives of saints, painted by a team of artists over several years. The hall is lit by wide stained-glass windows, large chandeliers and a carved wooden iconostasis, so the interior feels like a gallery of contemporary Coptic church art. Entry is free in modest dress, and it is best to avoid service times. It is near Al-Sahaba Mosque and the Old Market, so combine them on one outing.
