The main museum of Hebei province, first opened in April 1953 in Baoding and settled in Shijiazhuang since October 1987, displaying nearly 150,000 relics over some 20,000 square metres of exhibition space. Its best-known treasures are the jade suits made of jade pieces sewn together with gold thread, from the Western Han tombs of Prince Liu Sheng and his wife Dou Wan at Mancheng, and a 2,300-year-old bronze lamp from the tomb of King Cuo of the ancient state of Zhongshan, alongside gold-inlaid bronze swords, incense burners, seals and bricks from the Great Wall. Entry is free with booking up to seven days ahead through the museum's WeChat account or website, Tuesday to Sunday from 9 am to 5 pm with last entry at 4.30 pm, closed on Mondays, per visitor guides.
