One of the largest outdoor film studios in the world, sometimes called «China's Hollywood», built from the mid-1990s by the businessman Xu Wenrong on farmland in the town of Hengdian; it now spreads over some 330 hectares with thirty outdoor shooting bases and 130 indoor studios, and many Chinese historical dramas and films are shot here. Visitors move between whole towns built for filming: the Ming-Qing Palace, a full-size copy of Beijing's Forbidden City; the vast Qin Palace, built in 1997 for Chen Kaige's film «The Emperor and the Assassin»; a riverside town inspired by the famous Song scroll «Along the River During the Qingming Festival»; the old streets of Guangzhou and Hong Kong; and palaces on the water. You may come across a crew filming a scene in one of the courtyards. A single park costs CNY 170 to 295, a one-day ticket for two or three parks 238 to 358, and four parks over two days 498, per visitor guides.
