A cape at the southeasternmost tip of Miyako Island, reaching about two kilometres into the sea and 140 to 200 metres wide, a national Place of Scenic Beauty. A grassy meadow scattered with dark coral rocks runs along the cape, cut by a road to its end, with cliffs on either side dropping to a blue sea dotted with huge boulders. In spring wild white lilies bloom here. At the tip stands a white lighthouse built in 1967, after the head of the local fishing union pressed for it following several shipwrecks off the coast; from the top the view sweeps 320 degrees over the ocean. It is one of the island's favourite spots for sunrise. Walking is free and climbing the lighthouse costs a small fee, per visitor guides. It is about 30 minutes' drive from Hirara town, and the cape is windy on most days.
