One of the world's largest electronics markets, a district of Futian in Shenzhen nicknamed the «Silicon Valley of Hardware» in the West, with about 38,000 businesses in 2020; a large share of the phones and gadgets sold in China come from here. It runs along both sides of a long pedestrian street lined with multi-storey malls, each holding hundreds of small stalls selling electronic components, phones, accessories, drones, screens and tools, wholesale and retail. Traders and tech fans come from all over the world; it's ideal for buying parts and devices at factory prices, or for watching the pace of Chinese industry up close. Wandering is free; most malls open from about 10 am to 7 pm, and bargaining is expected. Check devices carefully before buying, make sure of the warranty, and beware of counterfeits.
