One of Thailand's most beautiful and least crowded waterfalls, in Khuean Srinagarindra National Park north of Kanchanaburi, on the west shore of the vast Srinagarind dam lake. The water tumbles down seven successive limestone tiers over rocks coated in white mineral deposits, turning a clear turquoise among the forest trees. A forest trail climbs beside the tiers for about two kilometres to the top; each tier has a name and a pool you can swim in, and the second and third are among the loveliest and easiest to reach. The water is cooler and less crowded than the more famous Erawan falls on the other side of the mountain. The national park fee for foreigners is paid at the gate, so ask for the current price. The road from Kanchanaburi is long, about two hours, with a mountainous final stretch, and the park has a campsite and guesthouses for an overnight stay. The trail is slippery after rain, so wear water shoes, and do not leave food out. The falls are finest from August to January after the rains. Set off in the morning to arrive before the groups, and allow at least half a day.

It is less crowded and a little further, with similar beauty, so it suits those who want calm.
