Boat trip.
Ilha das Peças is an island in Paranaguá Bay off the coast of Paraná, home to about 350 people. It is part of Superagüi National Park, which protects Atlantic Forest, and lies not far from Ilha do Mel. The first inhabitants of the area were the Tupiniquim people. There are several stories about its name, which means «pieces»: one says pirates hid stolen treasure here, another links it to the illegal slave trade, when ships landed enslaved people on islands near the bay entrance before entering Paranaguá. Neither has been proven. The island has electricity, treated water, schools, small guesthouses and six restaurants. Its main draw for visitors is the boat trip across the Baía dos Golfinhos, the Bay of Dolphins between it and Ilha do Mel, where dolphins can often be seen in their habitat. Trips leave from Paranaguá and Pontal do Sul.
