Imsouane is a small coastal town and fishing port on Morocco's Atlantic coast between Agadir and Essaouira, in Agadir-Ida Ou Tanane Prefecture, Souss-Massa, about 51 km north of Agadir and 74 km south of Essaouira in a straight line. The town is known internationally for its surf and its fishing port, so tourism and fishing are its main livelihoods. It lies in a sheltered bay bordered by cliffs and sandy beaches, where long, regular waves form for much of the year, and guesthouses, surf camps and restaurants have opened. The wide bay curves beneath golden rocky cliffs, with golden sand and green-turquoise water along its shore and long waves rolling slowly in. Blue fishing boats line the small harbour below the red lighthouse, and white houses look down from the top of the cliff. Visitors learn to surf in the bay, walk the beach and cliffs and eat fresh fish from the port. The town is calm and away from the crowds, and sunset over the ocean is one of its finest moments.
