Jahorina is a mountain in Bosnia and Herzegovina, part of the Dinaric Alps, bordering Mount Trebević, about 19 km southeast of Sarajevo in a straight line. Its highest peak, Ogorjelica, reaches 1,916 metres, making it the second-highest of Sarajevo's mountains after Bjelašnica. The Jahorina ski resort hosted the women's alpine skiing events of the 1984 Winter Olympics. It is now one of the best-known ski resorts in the Balkans, with slopes and hotels, and it also welcomes visitors in summer for hiking and cycling. Dense pine forest covers the slopes, opening onto wide meadows and pistes that lie under thick snow in winter. From the summits a wide view opens over the surrounding mountains and Sarajevo on the horizon, and clouds wrap the peaks in the morning. Visitors ski in winter, walk forest trails and ride mountain bikes in summer, and take the lifts up to the peaks. Jahorina makes a trip from Sarajevo, and winter is peak season.
