A mountain in the Hajar range on the border of Ras Al Khaimah and Oman's Musandam governorate. Its summit reaches 1,934 metres on the Omani side, and a nearby point at 1,892 metres is the highest in the UAE. From the Ras Al Khaimah side a 36-kilometre road climbs the mountain in one hairpin after another across the rocky slopes, and the drive itself is one of the highlights. Near the top are parking areas, restaurants, facilities and a viewing deck over the valleys and peaks. The mountain is home to «Jais Flight», the world's longest zipline at 2.83 kilometres according to Guinness World Records. It crosses the ravines 1,680 metres above sea level, and the ride takes about three minutes at speeds of up to 150 km/h. Driving up to the viewing deck is free; Jais Flight starts at 325 AED depending on the season, according to Ras Al Khaimah's official tourism site, with winter flights from 9:30 to 16:00. It is clearly cooler up the mountain than on the coast, so bring a jacket in winter.
