Jeddah's Red Sea front, a coastal leisure strip about 30 kilometres long with a seaside road, parks, pavilions and large civic sculptures. Along it stand King Fahd's Fountain, the tallest fountain in the world, and the Al-Rahma Mosque, known as the Floating Mosque. At its heart is the Jeddah Waterfront, opened on 30 November 2017: 730,000 square metres along 4.2 kilometres of shore, with room for about 120,000 visitors, restaurants, shops, dancing fountains and gardens. Large sculptures line the corniche, along with walking paths, piers reaching into the sea and benches facing the sunset. It is free and always open; the hour before sunset and the evening, when the fountain and waterfront are lit, are the best times. Summers are hot and humid, so winter suits a long walk best.
