A modern financial district in Al Aqeeq, north Riyadh, known as KAFD or Al-Maliyyah and serving as the Kingdom's banking and business hub. It has 95 buildings, from office and residential towers to hotels and leisure venues, over some 1.6 million square metres. The master plan was overseen by Henning Larsen Architects, and its towers come from international firms including HOK, SOM, Gensler and Foster + Partners. It is the largest mixed-use district in the world with LEED Platinum green-building certification. Its standout building is the KAFD metro station by Zaha Hadid Architects, with its white undulating roof, in service since late 2024. Climate-controlled skywalks link the buildings, and a 3.6-kilometre driverless internal monorail is under construction. Walking around is free, and the Riyadh Metro is the easiest way in. Evenings are the best time, when the towers are lit and the heat eases, with restaurants and cafés on the plazas.
