The wooden jetty

A small, quiet island near Labuan Bajo with a soft white beach and a long wooden jetty over glass-clear water, from which you see fish and coral without getting wet. The island has a small hill overlooking the surrounding islands and a simple resort with beach huts. It is one of the best nearby snorkelling spots, with reef starting right at the beach, colourful fish, starfish and sometimes turtles and small harmless sharks. Many trips stop here on the way back from Komodo. A token landing fee is usually charged, and staying at the resort needs advance booking. Services are limited, so bring water and food unless on a tour. It is ideal for a half-day of relaxing, or a night far from everything. Climb the hill at sunset for the island view.

About an hour by boat north-west of Labuan Bajo
It sits on its edge near Labuan Bajo and usually needs only a token landing fee, a cheaper, closer option for swimming and snorkelling than the far park islands.
