A large leisure area on Surabaya's east coast, facing the Madura Strait with the Suramadu Bridge in the distance, with a beach, seafront promenade, rides and seafood restaurants, plus a striking group of large Chinese landmarks: a colourful temple, a four-faced Buddha statue and a big statue of the goddess Guan Yin by the sea. Local families come on holidays to stroll by the sea and take boat rides, and the surrounding area is known for fishing villages and markets of dried fish and seafood. Close by is the modern Kenjeran Bridge, with colourful night lighting and a dancing fountain on some evenings. Entry is a token fee, with some attractions extra. The sea here is mostly for strolling and scenery rather than swimming. The best time is late afternoon into the evening, as it cools and lights up. Seafood lovers and fans of local markets will enjoy it most.

Usually not: the water is murky and shallow near shore. It is for strolling, photos and seafood; for swimming, Malang's southern beaches or other islands are better.
