The park that gave the area its name: a rainforest-covered headland dropping into the Andaman Sea south of Khao Lak's beaches, combining green hills, small waterfalls and quiet rocky coves. It is a refuge for anyone wanting jungle and sea together without a long trip. From the park headquarters by the sea, a nature trail follows the coast through the forest for about an hour, passing giant trees, hanging roots, birds and monkeys, and ending at a small secluded golden-sand beach known as Lek beach. The headquarters has a restaurant on a rock above the sea and a sunset viewpoint. The park fee for foreigners is about one hundred baht, and it opens in the daytime. The trail is easy to moderate but humid and slippery after rain. May to October is the Andaman rainy season, when the sea is rough and some beaches and islands close. A pleasant half-day outing for families, best in the late afternoon so it ends with sunset over the sea. Bring suitable shoes, water and insect repellent.
