Kintampo Waterfalls is one of Ghana's highest waterfalls, in the Bono East region on the Pumpum River, a tributary of the Black Volta. Known as Sanders Falls in colonial days, it is hidden in the forest and makes a popular stop on the road between Kumasi and Tamale. It has three main drops, the longest about 25 m, followed by a series of steps and cascades for a total height of about 70 m. The river flows over a cliff of sandstone and sedimentary rock typical of the region. Its flow is seasonal, peaking in the rainy season and falling off in the dry months. From the road you head down among dense trees, hearing the water before you see it. At the first drop the water slides in white curtains over coloured boulders, with green leaves covering the cliff. Many visitors stop at the pool for photographs. The falls lie about 4 km north of Kintampo town, 156 km from Kumasi and 42.4 km from Boabeng-Fiema in a straight line. The rocks are very slippery, so wear sturdy shoes and do not climb near the edge. Avoid swimming when the water is high after rain, as the current is strong and can change suddenly, and watch children closely.

Only in calm conditions and with care. Avoid it when the water is high.
