A long, wide beach in the middle of Koh Chang's west coast, quieter than White Sand Beach, cut by the mouth of the Khlong Prao canal that runs down from the island's mountains. The sand is broad, especially at low tide, when you can walk far out over shallow water, with the island's forested peaks rising behind. It is lined with calm resorts with big gardens and pools facing the sea, a favourite with families and couples after quiet. Fishermen's painted wooden boats moor near the river mouth, kayaks can be hired to paddle up the canal among the mangroves, and Khlong Phlu waterfall is a few minutes inland. The beach is free. There are fewer restaurants than in the north, most inside resorts or on the main road, so ask about halal options; seafood is everywhere. The best season runs from November to April; from May to October the monsoon makes the sea rough on the west coast and boat trips thin out. The best times are early morning, when the sea is still, and sunset among the small islands offshore. The water stays shallow for a long way, which suits children in the calm season.

Klong Prao is calmer and wider with more secluded resorts; White Sand has more restaurants, shops and nightlife.
