Kluane National Park and Reserve are two protected areas in the south-west corner of Yukon, Canada. They hold Canada's highest mountains, including Mount Logan, and the largest icefields outside the polar regions, and they form part of a shared World Heritage Site with parks in Alaska and British Columbia. The reserve was set aside in 1972 to become a national park, covering about 22,000 square kilometres. After an agreement with the Champagne and Aishihik First Nations, its eastern part became a national park in 1993, run together with them. The rest awaits a settlement with the Kluane First Nation. You see calm blue Kathleen Lake mirroring green and grey mountains, and the Kaskawulsh Glacier stretching like a wide white road between sharp peaks. Forest and meadow cover the valleys, and bears, moose and Dall sheep may appear. Kathleen Lake is about 25 km from Haines Junction in a straight line. Most of the park can only be seen from the air or on long trails, and the weather changes fast.
