A small, narrow island south-east of Koh Chang, within Mu Ko Chang Marine National Park, with no cars or roads, just a few simple resorts and timber huts between the forest and the sea. Its water is clear turquoise and its coral sits close to the north shore, making it one of the best snorkelling spots in the area. Most visitors come on a day trip from Koh Chang, snorkelling around the reefs, lunching on the beach and returning in the afternoon, while those after total seclusion stay the night, with limited evening electricity and the sound of the sea. A long wooden jetty runs out to a pavilion on the water, and sunset from its end is unforgettable. The island itself has no entry fee; snorkelling trips are sold including the boat, equipment and lunch, and a park fee may be added depending on the programme, so ask when booking. Speedboats from Bang Bao pier take about half an hour. The best season runs from November to April; from May to October the monsoon makes the sea rough on the west coast and boat trips thin out. Many trips stop in the rainy season. Bring reef-safe sunscreen, and never stand on or touch the coral. The island is ideal for families who love calm sea, but services are limited, so bring what you need.
