Kosava Castle is a castle-style palace in the Gothic Revival style near the town of Kosava, in south-western Belarus. It is known for its many white towers and its wide steps above a green hill, and it is one of the most striking palaces in the country. Count Wojciech Puslowski bought the estate in 1821, the architect Franciszek Jaszczold designed the palace, and Wladyslaw Marconi rebuilt it in the late 19th century. The military leader Tadeusz Kosciuszko was born on the same estate. The palace was badly damaged in both world wars and has been restored in recent years. You see a long white front topped with round and square towers with red battlements, and pointed Gothic windows. Wide steps, a fountain and green gardens lie before it, with white statues between the paths. A white gatehouse with small towers opens onto the road. It is about 205 km from Minsk in a straight line, and about 2 km from the town of Kosava. The UK Foreign Office advises against all travel to Belarus, so read the current advice before any planning.
