Kund Malir is a beach in Pakistan's Balochistan province, within Hingol National Park, one of the country's largest national parks, about 237 km west of Karachi by road and 167 km in a straight line, on the Makran Coastal Highway. It is considered one of the most beautiful beaches anywhere, and in 2018 it was named among Asia's 50 most beautiful beaches. The drive between Kund Malir and Ormara is known for its scenery through rural country, and there are estimated to be 11 active mud volcanoes in the area. There are no food or fuel facilities after the starting point of the route, so stock up before setting off. The well-known Hindu temple of Hinglaj Mata is nearby. Wide golden sand faces the blue Arabian Sea, ringed by rocky mountains and strangely carved sandstone formations, with fishing boats drawn up on the sand. Mountains, sea and desert meet in a single view. People from Karachi and interior Sindh come on weekend outings to swim, walk the sand and watch the sunset. UK Foreign Office advice covers parts of Balochistan, so check current guidance before you plan.
