A modern waterfront museum devoted to the sea around Labuan, entered through a spacious hall under a glass roof, with tanks and specimens inside showing the fish, corals and sea creatures of the island's waters, along with skeletons and models of large marine animals. It also explains the richness of the waters around Labuan, its marine park around the small nearby islands, and the shipwrecks from the Second World War and later that have made the island one of the best-known wreck-diving spots in Southeast Asia. Entry is free, and it opens daily from nine in the morning to six in the evening; it is a pleasant stop for families with children and, being air-conditioned, good for the hottest or rainiest hours. It lies about ten minutes from the town centre, and it is a good place to ask about boat and diving trips to the marine park islands, which local operators run at their own prices.
