Lagoa do Paraíso, Paradise Lagoon, is a broad freshwater lake near the town of Jijoca, south of Jericoacoara village, also known as Lagoa de Jijoca. Its water is clear, calm and greenish blue, edged by soft white sand. Its best-known sight is the hammocks strung over the water in front of the restaurants and stalls on its shore, where visitors lie back with their feet in the warm water. You can paddle and swim in the calm water, and it suits families. It is reached on buggy or 4x4 tours from Jeri, many of which combine it with other lagoons in one day. Entry is free, but the hammocks and seats usually belong to the restaurants, which expect you to order food or drinks.
