Lagoinha do Leste is a small S-shaped lagoon behind a wild beach on the south-east of Santa Catarina Island, squeezed between a chain of hills and the Atlantic. There is no road: you arrive by boat from Armação or Pântano do Sul beaches, or on foot over the hills. Two trails lead there. The longer one, considered easier and prettier, starts at Matadeiro beach and is the usual way in; the shorter one from Pântano do Sul is steeper and often used for the return. The area is protected as a municipal nature park. Take water and food, and allow enough time to get back before dark.
