Lake Beyşehir is a large freshwater lake between the provinces of Isparta and Konya in southwest Turkey, the country's largest freshwater lake, about 86 km west of Konya in a straight line. It shares its name with the town of Beyşehir on its shore. The lake covers 650 square kilometres and is 45 km long and 20 km wide. It was anciently called Karallis and is fed by streams from the Sultan and Anamas mountains. Its level shifts by year and season, it holds 32 islets of varying size, and it is a national park. The wide blue lake stretches to the foot of the mountains, scattered with small wooded islands, with wooden fishing boats lining the shores. Sky and water turn orange at sunset, and the edges sometimes freeze in winter. Visitors stop at shoreline viewpoints and lookout towers, take boats out to the islands and visit the town of Beyşehir with its old Seljuk buildings. Sunset over the lake is a highlight, and it makes a good stop between Konya and Antalya.
