Lang Co Bay is a curved beach and lagoon on Vietnam's central coast, at the foot of the Hai Van Pass, about 28 km northwest of Da Nang and 55 km southeast of Hue in a straight line. It sits on the main road and railway between the two cities. Behind the long sandy beach lies Lap An lagoon, about 1,655 hectares of calm water fed by streams from the surrounding mountains and linked to the sea, where locals farm oysters and fish. In 2009 Lang Co joined the «Club of the Most Beautiful Bays in the World». Resorts line the beach, and the town has long been a stop on the road between Hue and Da Nang. Green mountains wrap around the lagoon, their slopes mirrored in still water dotted with wooden oyster stakes, fishing boats and round bamboo basket boats. On the sea side a strip of fine white sand runs for kilometres beside clear blue water. Seafood restaurants along the lagoon serve oysters and fresh fish. Many travellers stop here on the drive over the Hai Van Pass, which climbs straight up from the southern end of the bay, and the sea is calmest from April to August.
