A large complex on Langkawi's north coast that exhibits and sells Malaysian handicrafts, in a traditional Malay-style building overlooking the sea. It has displays of traditional crafts such as batik, songket, pottery, woodcarving and brasswork, sometimes with demonstrations of how they are made. Beside the displays are shops selling craftsmen's work from the various states, from textiles and clothes to ornaments and souvenirs, so it is a good place to buy genuine Malaysian gifts rather than the imported souvenirs that fill tourist markets. Entry is free, and it opens in daytime. It is quiet and mostly air-conditioned, a good stop on a north-coast drive. It lies on the road to Datai and Tanjung Rhu, so make it a short stop on that route. An hour is enough, longer for lovers of crafts and shopping.

Sometimes higher than street markets, but the quality is genuine and the goods local. For cheap souvenirs, the Kuah and Cenang markets suit better.
